Child Support Garnishee deduction

Child Support Garnishee deduction is calculating as a % of gross earnings instead of as a % net earnings.

Updated over 2 months ago

Employers may be required to deduct Child Support from an employee’s wages under the Child Support Scheme. The Child Support Agency will notify employers of the start date and the amount to be deducted each pay period. Employees will also be informed in writing of their requirements.

For Garnishee deductions, a separate pay item must be created, distinct from the standard Child Support deduction, as it is reported under a different STP category. These deductions should be set up as a post-tax deduction.

You can set up Child Support Garnishee deductions under the Addition/Deduction tab in the Employee Profile.

Important: Definitiv does not support the automatic calculation of the garnishee amount if the net pay varies each pay period. As such, you will need to calculate the garnishee payment manually.
