In version 3.22, Definitiv has enhanced the way roster shifts are displayed in the Calendar View. Shifts are now ordered first by shift type, and then by start time within each type category. This improvement provides a more intuitive and consistent view of roster entries, making it easier to identify different shift statuses at a glance.
What's new
Previously, shifts in the Calendar View were ordered primarily by start time. With this update, shifts are now grouped and ordered according to their type/status, with secondary ordering by start time within each group.
Shift ordering hierarchy
Shifts in the Calendar View now follow this specific ordering:
- Grey Overrides - Deleted Work Schedules
- Blue Scheduled Timesheets - Work Schedules
- Green Accepted/Published - Approved and finalised shifts
- Yellow Draft/Pending - Shifts awaiting approval - Previously published (shown first)
- New drafts (shown second)

- Orange Warning/Has Issues - Shifts with validation errors or warnings - Previously published (shown first)
- New drafts (shown second)

- Rejected/Unassigned - Shifts that have been rejected or are unassigned
- Scheduled Leave (Purple) - Confirmed leave (always "Confirmed" type)
- Approved Leave - Leave applications that have been manually approved or auto-approved
- Pending Leave - Leave applications awaiting approval.
Special ordering rules
Public holidays:
- Public Holidays may appear as teal colored when they have the Green Approved/Accepted status
- The specific ordering of Public Holidays with other shift types may vary based on configuration
Vacancy entries:
- In Employee View: Vacancy entries always appear in the top-most row as standalone entries
- In Role View: Vacancies appear in the same order as populated Roles
Time-Based Secondary Ordering:
Within each shift type category, shifts are further ordered by:
- Start time (earliest to latest)
- If start times are identical, then by end time.
Example
If an employee has the following shifts on a single date:
- 1 Green Published shift (9:00 AM - 5:00 PM)
- 2 Yellow Draft shifts (8:00 AM - 4:00 PM and 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM)
They will be displayed in this order:
- Green Published shift (9:00 AM - 5:00 PM)
- Yellow Draft shift (8:00 AM - 4:00 PM) - earlier start time
- Yellow Draft shift (10:00 AM - 6:00 PM) - later start time
