Release: 3.22 - October 2025
β
We've enhanced the Day View in Definitiv Rostering to provide better shift organization and improved visibility of your daily schedules. Shifts are now automatically ordered chronologically, making it easier to understand your workforce allocation throughout the day.
Chronological Shift Ordering
When viewing rosters in Day View, shifts are now displayed in a logical, time-based order that follows how your workday actually flows:
Primary Ordering: Shifts are sorted by earliest start time first
Morning shifts appear at the top
Afternoon shifts follow
Evening and night shifts appear last
Secondary Ordering: When multiple shifts start at the same time, they're sorted by earliest finish time
Shorter shifts appear before longer shifts with the same start time
This helps identify shift duration patterns at a glance
Tertiary Ordering: When shifts have identical start AND finish times, they're sorted alphabetically by employee name
Provides consistent, predictable ordering
Makes it easy to locate specific employees
How it works
Before and After Comparison
Previous Display:
Shifts were grouped by employee without time-based ordering
Difficult to see the chronological flow of the workday
Required manual scanning to understand shift sequences
New Display:
Shifts flow chronologically from earliest to latest
Clear visibility of shift overlaps and gaps
Intuitive understanding of workforce coverage throughout the day

Viewing Modes Affected
Day View - Roles & Employee Mode
The new ordering logic applies to Day View when viewing shifts in Roles & Employee grouping mode. This ensures:
Clear chronological progression of shifts
Easy identification of shift patterns
Improved workforce planning visibility
Grouping Options
The chronological ordering works seamlessly with:
Primary Grouping: Shifts are ordered chronologically within each primary group
Secondary Grouping: Shifts maintain chronological order within nested groups
No Grouping: All shifts display in pure chronological order
Calendar View Unchanged
Important Note: This enhancement applies only to Day View. Calendar View continues to function as before, maintaining its existing display logic optimized for that viewing format.
