Migrate to Access ATO Gateway

Changing to the new Sending Service Provider for STP events

Definitiv is transitioning to a new, in-house Sending Service Provider for all STP events — Access ATO Gateway (AAG). This change gives us direct control over STP lodgements, providing improved reliability and ensuring your system is ready for Payday Super compliance on 1 July 2026.

This article is your central guide to the STP Gateway Migration wizard. It covers what the migration involves, how to work through each step, and what to expect once you're done.

From 8 June 2026, all STP transactions will be processed through AAG. This timing is intentional — to reduce disruption during the end-of-year period.

Key Benefits

  • Payday Super readiness – Migration is required ahead of Payday Super compliance on 1 July 2026.

  • Improved reliability – Direct control over STP lodgements means faster issue resolution and greater stability.

  • No disruption to current lodgements – Your STP lodgements continue as normal until you activate the new gateway in the final step.

  • Early adoption available – Complete the migration at any time before the deadline to avoid last-minute disruption to pay runs and end-of-financial-year processing.

Before You Begin

  • Ensure the SSID’s have been successfully registered in Access Manager.

Complete the migration

Navigate to Admin, Miscellaneous, STP Gateway Setup in Definitiv to access the wizard.

Step 1 – 3 have already been completed as a part of SSID Registration.

ℹ️ Note: Your current STP lodgements will continue as normal until you activate the new gateway in Step 4. Completing Steps 1–3 does not affect existing lodgements.

Step 4 – Clear Unresolved Transactions Detected

When the Activation step becomes available, you can elect to activate Access ATO Gateway ahead of the deadline 8th June 2026.

As part of the transition to the new SSP, any unanswered STP lodgements will need to be closed first.

There is no need for concern as STP transmits cumulative YTD values, meaning any missed transaction is automatically superseded by the following submission.

Click on Close Unresolved Transactions & Proceed

Step 5 – Activate Access ATO Gateway

To complete the migration, click Activate Access ATO Gateway. If you prefer not to activate now, you must do so before your next pay run on or after 8 June 2026.

⚠️ Warning: Once activated, all STP lodgements for this instance will be sent through Access ATO Gateway. This action cannot be undone via the portal — contact support if you need to revert.

Important note

⚠️ After 8 June 2026: The STP gateway migration deadline will have passed. Payrun and End of Year submissions will not be able to be sent until the migration is complete. If you require assistance, please lodge a support helpdesk ticket.

Troubleshooting

The STP Gateway Setup option is not visible in Definitiv

Confirm your account has STP administration permissions. If the menu item is not visible, contact your Definitiv administrator to check your access level.

The Activation step is not visible in the wizard

Activation will become available once your instance is ready for migration. If you have completed Steps 1–3, you have done everything required at this stage. You will be notified when Activation becomes available.

I see a banner saying my SSID registration is incomplete

Navigate to Admin, Miscellaneous, STP Gateway Setup. Confirm all active ABNs have a generated SSID and a ticked confirmation checkbox. Complete the ATO portal registration for any unticked ABNs and return to tick their checkboxes.

My pay run was blocked from publishing after 8 June 2026

Pay run publishing is blocked until the STP gateway migration is complete. Return to the wizard and complete any outstanding steps, or contact Definitiv support for assistance.
