Check Jury Service is listed as a Leave Reason
Navigate to Other Leave in Admin, Configuration, Accrual Types.
If it is not listed, select Add New Reason.
Create a new Pay Item termed Jury Service or Ancillary and Defence Leave
The STP Phase 2 Category should be set as Ancillary and Defence Leave in Admin, Structure, Pay Items, Leave Tab.
Update your award to split Other Leave and Jury Service in Admin, Policies, Award Policies
Firstly, navigate to your current award and Cease Date as of the Last Date of your previous pay period, and hit save. Publish this award and hit New Version this will then commence from the start of your new Pay Period.
Navigate back to the Version History and open your newly created version.
Scroll down to the Other Leave Rule, select Apply to Leave Reasons, and select all bar Jury Service. If Jury Service is already selected, press the x to remove.
Copy the rule
When hovering over the rule, you will see a purple icon with 2 sheets of paper, select this, and it will duplicate your rules.
You also want to select the speech bubble to rename your rule to define Other Leave & Jury Service.
Update the new copied rule
In the Apply to Leave Reasons section, remove your Leave Reasons and replace it with Jury Service.
Under Add Pay Item, select the box where the Pay Item is appearing and change this from Other Leave to Jury Service. Make sure you only do this for the rule applicable to the Leave Reason Jury Duty.
Note: This is an example only, and your award rules may differ, so be sure to update the award in line with your specific payment conditions.
Save the award updates
Click Save.
Confirm the new Pay Item is in the Pay Element
Once you have completed the above steps, please ensure the new pay item is included in the pay elements of the following policies in Admin, Policies, Leave Policies & Provision Policies;
☐ Provision – For Payroll Tax Purposes.
☐ Leave – To ensure accruals still calculate when an employee is on Jury Service.
