Better off overall test (BOOT) test

Fair Work Commission uses the (Boot) test to access registered agreements against awards

Updated over 3 months ago

BOOTS testing is not possible as standard in Definitiv due to the complexity of applying outer limits per person, the contractual agreements being held between an employer and the employee, and this being an IR/ER regulated item, not a software legislative application. However, if you require this type of testing, our Consulting services will be able to assist.

  • Build the standard full modern awards aligned to minimum legislative rates within your production environment, even though this is not applied to individuals.

  • Create a copy of your database in a dedicated test environment.

  • In your test system, switch the award within the role to the full modern award.

  • In your test system, switch the pay policy to the pay guide from the full modern award.

  • You can then enter all timesheets, custom fields, etc., required from the modern award.

  • You will then recalculate payrolls for the period of time.

  • You will need to understand any outer limits that apply to those specific employees.

  • You will then need to complete the comparison by comparing reports produced from both the Live and Test environments.

  • If this is to be done year on year, you will need to maintain the modern award, including 1 July rate increases and the applicable pay policies in your live environment, as this is then copied over to test.

Note: This is a chargeable service.
The Access Group cannot provide advice on the requirements of BOOT testing or Outer Limits. For items specific to your business, you will need to engage with an IR / ER Lawyer.
